Gartner Market Guide for Cloud Management Platforms Names Cloudsoft as a Representative Vendor

Gartner Research VP’s Dennis Smith and Milind Govekar just published a Market Guide for Cloud Management Platforms (April 2017) and we are pleased to see Cloudsoft AMP included as a representative vendor.

"CMPs typically address service request management; provisioning, orchestration and automation; governance and policy; monitoring and metering; and multicloud brokering" — Research VP’s Dennis Smith and Milind Govekar

In the report Smith and Govekar explain the value that Multifunctional Tools, Cloud Management Platforms (CMPs) that manage cloud, or multi cloud environments.

“Some also provide other functionality, but the five areas mentioned above are typically where most provide capabilities. The key value proposition of a CMP is enabling multicloud management to apply policy, and to orchestrate and automate across public and private cloud services in a uniform way. The Representative Vendors table in this research includes a sampling of vendors that offer CMP functionality.

The benefits of the CMP are threefold: Enforce policies and standards — which provider to use and what can be consumed from that provider. Offer a single view and implementation across multiple cloud providers through abstracting cloud providers' proprietary APIs. Reduce lock-in of any one IaaS provider."

Cloudsoft is honoured to be mentioned in the report and here are some reasons why we believe Cloudsoft Application Management Platform(AMP) fits this description:

  • Policy Definition is included in AMP in the way of blueprints.
  • Multi-tiered orchestration is carried out by orchestrated lower level things like container management.
  • Cloudsoft AMP brings you Multi-cloud brokering via jclouds, ensuring that applications are portable, freeing the business to pursue a multi-cloud, multi-vendor strategy, and avoid the risk of vendor lock-in.
